The estate Le Bocage

Le Bocage is situated on the edge of the village of Savigny, and its park, which covers more than 3 hectares, is planted with very special age-old trees. For more information about the trees click here.

Birds of different feather, including owls and woodpeckers, but also foxes, badgers, hedgehogs, ferrets, deer and wild boars feel at home on the estate.

LEYLINES - PATHS OF ENERGY

Only recently, experts in the field of spirituality and energy discovered that on the estate two leylines are crossing. The energy of these lines is perceptibly present in the park. For more information about leylines click here.

THE ESTATE'S HISTORY IN A NUTSHELL

Around 1870, Charles Bezanson - mayor of Savigny from 1874 to 1897 - built a new château called Le Bocage on the foundations of an old castle, which completely burned down in 1624 in the aftermath of a family feud. Many places in the buildings and in the fencing bear the initials CB. The hunting lodge St. Hubert, built opposite the château, dates from the middle of the nineteenth century.

Before 2003, in which year the buildings were given their current use as group accommodation and chambres d'hôtes, the estate and buildings served for a long time as a holiday home for weak children from Chaumont in need of fresh air. Tradition has it that much on the estate awaits discovery, such as foundations of earlier buildings, objects dating from the chaotic times of the Hundred Years' War (1337-1453) and the Thirty Years' War (1618-1648) and tunnels leading to places outside the estate. There are also ancient cellars, that have not yet betrayed their secrets. During your visit we will be glad to share more details about the estate's turbulent history with you.
